Only 10 percent of the nation’s 884 Air Force JROTC units received the designation this year, including 10 other units in the state of Texas. The award recognizes Air Force JROTC units that have performed above and beyond normal expectations and distinguished themselves through outstanding service to their school and community while meeting the program’s mission of producing better citizens for America. With the honor comes the added bonus of an invitation to nominate three juniors for appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and one each to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
